ODLO was born in Norway in 1946 by Odd Roar Lofterud. He was a textile engineer and saw the need to create quality performance clothing that could function in notoriously harsh conditions. ODLO is the original inventor of functional sports underwear and has been innovating for over 75 years. In the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo, Odlo provided the performance apparel to 25 of the participating Nations.
In 1986, Odlo moved its headquarters from Norway to Switzerland, and has continued to innovate and create exceptional products for active lifestyles all year round. ODLO strives to stay one step ahead, weaving the Norwegian heritage and Swiss engineering into modern, functional, and comfortable sports apparel.
ODLO is one of the worlds largest producers of base layer, and its main markets are Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, and Italy. In addition to base layer, Odlo offers a wide range of performance apparel for Cross Country skiing, Running, Training, Cycling and Hiking.
ODLO differs from most sport apparel companies by having a complete proprietary supply chain, including its own factory in Romania, while also being able to take advantage of the manufacturing capabilities of its sister companies. Currently the Romania factory produces around 50% of Odlo’s products, but this is underway to be expanded to around 80%. ODLO also has its own logistics center in Brüggen, Germany.
The Roman facility also sews for the rest of the Monte Rosa Sport group companies.
