Odlo also benefits from MRS’ long-term perspective on its investments. In other words, there are no restrictions on the investment horizon. Furthermore, MRS acts as a daily resource for management, both operationally and financially.
Under MRS’s ownership and vision, each of the brands will undertake an ambitious growth journey over the next five years, with transformation already well-underway. Christian Casal and Hugo Maurstad (pictured below) are both Partners at Monte Rosa Capital. They both started their career at McKinsey. Hugo then joined Norwegian fund, Altor, in 2003 and was responsible for investments in companies such as Helly Hansen, Rossignol, Dale of Norway and EWOS. Christian headed up the McKinsey office in Switzerland until 2017 and has focused on private investment since then. He sits on numerous boards for mid-cap companies and charitable foundations.

Each of the brands within the MRS portfolio remains responsible for its own design, product development, marketing, and sales to maintain its unique heritage and identity. However, to drive operational excellence and efficiency the group benefits from centralised functions – sourcing and manufacturing, logistics, technology investments and financing.
Odlo, for instance, now produces its wool fabrics for the base layers at the Janus manufacturing site, benefitting from their knitting expertise to further elevate the Odlo product.
