Nearly 60 years have passed since Henri Strzelecki set out on his journey to create the world’s best waterproof clothing. A visionary with a dream, Henri created world firsts within technical clothing, from seam taping garments to ensure they were fully waterproof to the invention of the nylon zip. A lot has happened since then but one thing that has stayed constant is Henri-Lloyd’s relentless desire to keep moving forward.
Henri-Lloyd comes from a British heritage and a true commitment to sailing and doing what they can to safeguard our oceans. For over 6 decades Henri-Lloyd has been the clothing choice for many of the greatest pioneers, explorers, and sailors. From Sir Robin-Knox Johnston and Sir Francis Chichester to the world’s most successful Olympic sailor, Sir Ben Ainslie. Henri-Lloyd’s products have sailed the globe and been on top of podiums and mountains.
Henri-Lloyd has also reached the consumer onshore, and was voted Britain’s fashion brand of the year in 1997. It’s “Consorte” jacket, created in 1965, became the popular choice of the Paninaris in Italy in the 1980’s, and has remained popular for six decades.
Henri-Lloyd is striving for sustainability in everything they do and is dedicated to doing things as responsibly as possible. Creating quality clothing that lasts is arguably the best thing we can do to minimize our impact on the environment – allowing our customers to buy less but buy better.
Henri-Lloyd has its own manufacturing center in Poland, which produces a wide range of waterproof jackets, technical sailing gear and technical knitwear. The ambition is that this manufacturing site will take a larger role in producing technical apparel for other Monte Rosa Sport brands.
